A uniformed Old Line Safari Company representative meets you on arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and transports you to the gorgeous Giraffe Manor, located in a quiet, leafy Nairobi suburb, where your room awaits you. For the rest of the day, you may relax and catch up with the time zone or opt to visit the David Sheldrick Trust (to see the orphaned baby elephants) or the Giraffe Centre and Karen Blixen Museum (made famous in the film Out of Africa) at no extra charge.

The day begins with a pre-safari briefing from your safari guide, before you board a twin-engine aircraft for a one-hour flight to Kenya's largest national park, Tsavo West, famous for its man-eating, maneless lions and large herds of elephant. Checking into Finch Hatton's Tented Camp by the banks of the Athi River, take in the impressive view, including, on a clear day, Mount Kilimanjaro to the south. Just after sunup and before sunset, you'll venture out in search of the beasts. Catch a glimpse of the hippopotamuses in Mzima Springs, watch the lizards and crocodiles, and expect to see a wide variety of birds. Optional activities include river rafting, guided game walks, and night game drives.

You greet the day with a steaming cup of tea or coffee followed by an early morning farewell game drive through Tsavo's various habitats. On return to camp, you'll enjoy a substantial breakfast before transferring to the airstrip for your flight back to Nairobi. A two-hour drive finds you sitting down to lunch at the exclusive Mount Kenya Safari Club. Originally the home of white settlers, this top-class resort lies almost on the equator at the base of Mount Kenya. Choose among many options for entertainment, from swimming, bowling, and horseback riding to golf and fishing. You can even visit an animal sanctuary for the rare Bongo antelope.

A final game drive at dawn to catch the best of the waking Mara plains seems in order. After breakfast, you must bid farewell to the camp staff before boarding your flight back to Nairobi. Lunch precedes afternoon shopping at Utamaduni Crafts Centre, followed by a farewell dinner. Then, it's time to transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to catch your departing international flight.
